It's important for the head vet to be a leader, but also remember he/she usually works with a team of technicians, secretaries and care providers with assistants. So evaluate all fronts, not just the head veterinarian. Location will usually be the biggest factor, however I know I'd happily drive 30min to a fantastic vet!
